Established in 2020, Origin Capital Partners (OCP) is a funds management business specialising in investment within the New Zealand primary sector. Since establishment, OCP has successfully raised two kiwifruit specific funds which once fully deployed are expected to hold assets under management in excess of $250m.

Origin Capital Fund 1 – The Kiwifruit Fund
Origin Capital Fund 1 was New Zealand’s first private equity fund dedicated to investing in the New Zealand kiwifruit sector. In June 2021, the Fund achieved its final close, with $85m raised from investors wanting exposure to the sector. As at September 2022, 95% of the Fund’s capital had been called and applied to investment in nine high quality kiwifruit orchards.
Origin Capital Fund 2 – The Red, Gold & Green Fund
Kiwifruit is New Zealand’s largest horticulture export, and exports have doubled since 2015 alone. The kiwifruit industry is one of high cashflow yields - it has proven to be resilient to economic and global downturn, and represents a compelling opportunity for investors seeking exposure to the New Zealand primary sector.
As with Origin’s first Fund, Fund 2 will be focused exclusively on the New Zealand kiwifruit sector, where we continue to see attractive growth prospects for the industry. Further investment in SunGold will be made, while Fund 2 will has exposure to the exciting new ‘RubyRed’ variety, commercialised in 2019 by Zespri. In July 2022, Fund 2 achieved its final close, raising $42m from 118 investors.
